A leisurely start at 8.15am on Sunday 17 September saw a great turnout of Tritons, old and new, gather at Repulse Bay for the latest social event. Deserving of particular mention was the return of Pete Hanna to the racing circuit and modelling the new Tritons race kit (no doubt bought especially for this occasion!), and welcoming new members Brenda and Dana to their first Tritons event.
Unlike the last Aquathon in June, it was a beautiful but scortching hot morning with 36C showing on the beach thermostat at 9am. Luckily the water allowed the participant to cool off a bit between each runs.
The format was simple: a swim-run-swim for the first race, followed shortly after by a run-swim-run, a result of much protesting from the specialist runners amongst the group. A fast and furious swim and a very competitive run led to Andres taking honours yet again, with Mathieu following hot on his heels.
After a fun and gruelling morning of racing, we all relaxed over a huge breakfast of multiple avocado toasts at Hotshots, surrounded by surf and skate memorabilia.
A big thank you as always to Fen, Stina, Bea and Julia for organising another super social. Keep an eye out for details of the next event and we hope to see you all there!
